Nigel Rowe

“Beard’s day release scheme enabled me to study for my building qualification part-time whilst gaining valuable hands on experience.  This gave me an advantage over most graduates who have little or no construction experience when they finish college.”

Nigel Rowe, Managing Estimator

Career Paths

Your career with Beard could start with an apprenticeship when you leave school. Or you could join us as a graduate trainee or become one of our day release trainees.

Perhaps you are an experienced professional who wants to work for a highly respected, dynamic and expanding company. Wherever you begin, we will support and guide you along your chosen career path.

Apprentices

If you like the outdoor life, don’t mind starting work early in the morning, and would like to become a skilled tradesman in construction, then one of our three-year apprenticeships will suit you. Our chairman Alan Beard will follow your progress closely, meeting you for regular discussions to support you through to NVQ Level 3. At this point you will become a qualified tradesman, trained and equipped to work on a wide range of varied and prestigious projects.

Day release trainees

We like to ‘grow our own’ quantity surveyors and estimators, developing them from trainee through to accomplished professional. You’ll spend one day of each week at college while you continue to develop your workplace expertise. Your qualified colleagues will guide and support you as you turn the theory into practice.

Professionals

As an experienced professional with an excellent track record of successful projects, it’s possible you have reached a plateau in your career and need the challenge that only a change can offer. At Beard, we don’t wait for vacancies – we will find a place for the exceptional professional: the one who has the drive and enthusiasm to help us take our business further; the one who will share our values and help us develop our staff; the one who can make a difference.

I know now what Beard can do for me – so what do they expect from me?
