Defence

Beard has a long history of working for Defence organisations either directly or through their long term prime contracts.

Beard's experience in working in 'live' situations where the day to day running of the establishment is of paramount importance has been key to the delivery of many successful projects. Whether undertaking a major construction project or providing an ongoing repair and maintenance service, we plan activities around the customers needs so that operations can remain uninterrupted.

An example project we have undertaken is:

JSCSC Building Refurbishment & Flood Damage Repair, RMCS Shrivenham

This refurbishment project was required urgently by the college to reinstate training facilities after three key lecture theatres were flooded by heavy rainfall. Beard stripped out all the damaged building fabric to take the building back to a shell. After taking samples to check that the solid insulation and structure hadn't deteriorated, the project team recommended that the internal walls could be spared from demolition, saving the college significant expense.

The mechanical and electrical re-installation was particularly challenging, requiring complex audio-visual equipment controlled from special control booths and custom lighting. However, Beard handed over the project within sixteen weeks, seven weeks ahead of programme and under budget.
