An example of a recent project in this area was for Fosseway Housing Association. The project involved an extension to and modernisation of a residential care home for young adults with learning difficulties, requiring specialist disabled equipment and furnishings.

Beard extended a 1970's bungalow by adding a new single storey extension to meet the safety and compliance requirements for a home for young adults with special physical needs. The six bedrooms, two assisted bathrooms, en-suite shower room, kitchen, living room, dining area and laundry additions meet the latest disabled access requirements, making the house easier and more enjoyable to live in for the residents.

Employing a number of specialist sub-contractors, the team planned and co-ordinated access to allow specialists to install hydraulic baths which fill and empty automatically and hoists in the bedrooms and bathrooms to help with mobility, all specially designed for disabled children.
