Enabling collaborative working between the police and all participants in the construction supply chain

To sustain their current allocations for capital spending, police forces have to use their funding efficiently and demonstrate that they are achieving cumulative year-on-year improvements in both the service they provide and value for money.

Partnering contracts between the public and private sector are an increasingly common route to cost-effective procurement services.

Beard has been working with Thames Valley Police for the last five years. We are currently involved in a strategic partnering framework to design, build and refurbish custody suites throughout the Thames Valley Police region.

Using the same, consistent team has resulted in continuity. Lessons learnt from one project are carried forward to the next, leading to enhanced quality and efficiency.

Beard has worked closely with Thames Valley Police to establish a set of ‘score card’ Key Performance Indicators that are used to measure the success of each project.

Beard teams have also refurbished a number of fire and ambulance stations.

Significant cost savings are achievable by standardising design components and the design process, and analysing ‘whole of life costs’ as part of Beard’s value engineering process.
