New leisure facilities for High Wycombe residents set to open in June

The registered charity Fusion Lifestyle has commissioned Beard to carry out a £1.2 million programme of improvements to provide a new state of the art gym and a poolside cafe and restaurant at High Wycombe’s Holywell Mead Pool and Rye Centre, in time for June 2012.

Construction work during the closed season will involve alterations and improvements to existing buildings. This will provide local communities and visitors to The Rye with a brand new multi-purpose gym to house cardio vascular and resistance equipment and an indoor cycling studio, functional spaces and dry changing areas.

 “This second phase will involve the renovation of the Rye building to house a new gym, studios and new changing areas, while the rest of the site will benefit from a new cafe, refurbished outdoor pools and other multi-use areas," said Anthony Cawley, Head of Facilities at Fusion Lifestyle. 

 “While there are a number of technical challenges for us here, including piling work adjacent to the existing pool area and the creation of a steel framed structure for the cafe within the existing walls, I am confident we have the experience, resources and capability to undertake this successfully, on time and within budget,” said John Youle, Construction Director of Beard.
