Mark spent his formative years working for two major national contractors based in the Thames Valley and an International firm of cost consultants and project managers based in Sydney Australia. Mark was a Director of Beard for ten years before becoming Managing Director in February 1999. He graduated as a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building in October 1988 and became a Fellow in March 2001. Mark is also a Chartered Environmentalist.
Keeping customer service at the top of the company’s priorities, ensuring the evolution of the company to meet the challenges of the industry and taking an interest in staff well-being and career development are Mark believes, the most important elements of his role.
Mark's greatest personal achievement was becoming Oxfordshire Business Person of the year in June 2004. He is also proud of bringing together a team of construction industry professionals which equal any within Beard’s sector of the industry.
A keen sportsman, Mark’s first love is cricket, followed closely by rugby, squash and real tennis. All of these have given Mark massive satisfaction over the years. Nowadays with the body rebelling, his wife Nicky and daughter Sophie are central to his personal happiness.
Mark’s idea of perfect happiness would be scoring a double century at Lords!
