We pride ourselves on being able to find solutions to construction challenges that may arise from any building design
Beard brings a wealth of experience and expertise to any new build project.
Our teams have completed hundreds of new buildings. In recent years these have included schools, theatres, sports centres, offices, warehouses, retail showrooms, care homes and hospital departments.
Whether the structure is traditional, steel or timber frame, and whatever the combination of cladding and glazing systems, Beard finds solutions to the construction challenges that inevitably arise.
One of our most challenging projects was The Kindersley Centre at Sheepdrove Organic Farm, Berkshire, designed by Alec French Architects.
To realise the innovative design for this eco-friendly conference centre, the Beard team had to construct a rammed earth wall using chalk recycled from the foundations. They also had to create a complex scaffold structure to support the timber arches of the primary frame while they were bolted together.
The Kindersley Centre project won a Sustainability Award in the 2005 Civic Trust Awards.
Beard has teamed up with Canadian timber frame specialist DAC International Inc to offer care home customers the opportunity to create eco-friendly and energy efficient buildings that comply with stringent ‘Part L’ building regulations. Read about the Super E® Initiative here
“The design of the Ark was a challenge to any building contractor, to construct in brick and stone what the Architect had conceived on paper. Beard has risen to the challenge. The Ark can now been seen as an example of the builder’s craft, a building that will be used and viewed with appreciation for generations to come.”
