Success for Beard in Oxford Preservation Trust Annual Awards

No less than four important city centre conservation and construction projects undertaken by teams from Beard Oxford won awards in this year’s prestigious Oxford Preservation Trust Annual Awards, announced at the beginning of November.

The awards cover two conservation projects for the University of Oxford including a sensitive programme of work to restore the decoration of the Sheldonian Theatre to its original colour scheme and to re-light the building, which received the Trust’s highest award, as well as stonework cleaning and external restoration of the University Examination Schools.

A further conservation project to restore the façade of the historic Meadows building at Christ Church College and a new build project to construct the £8.5 million neo-classical Pipe Partridge building at Lady Margaret Hall also received awards. A fifth project involving restoration and improvements to the Narthex of the University Church of St Mary the Virgin received a commendation.

Beard construction director John Youle said: “It is great to receive recognition from the Oxford community for all the hard work involved in completing these works to such a high standard.  I am delighted that we are involved in so many projects that contribute to the conservation and improvement of the built or natural environment of Oxford.”
