Although our actual rail industry experience is limited, over the past decade Beard has undertaken numerous projects that we believe are relevant to the type of works we are interested in within the rail sector.

Within both Substation work and Rail work, there are additional requirements for safety and safe working systems. Beard are able to ensure these stringent demands are met.

Our main area of works has been undertaken on Substations with our key customer being Scottish and Southern Electric. The majority of these projects have been refurbishments, which are a key area of work within rail construction contracts.

We are now a registered supplier with the Link-up qualification scheme.

Chalvey Substation
This complex redevelopment project at Chalvey Substation included the construction of the building shell and the separate switch house.
The value of this project was £1.7m

Civil Works, Newbury
This 8 phase renovation project in Newbury consisted of the break up and disposal of concrete slabs as well as the renewal of existing slabs and upstands which also included SPEL Interceptors.
The value of this project was £209k

Greenham Park Substation, Newbury
Greenham Park Substation was a new build 33/11 kv Substation which comprised of transformer bases, a new switchroom and additional access road.
The value of this project was £167k
