Beard staff go the extra mile and raise £7,000 for charity

Staff at construction company Beard’s three offices in Oxford, Swindon and Guildford succeeded in raising over £7000 at the company’s triathlon on Saturday 26 June 2010.  The event was held at Cotswold Water Park in aid of Guildford based charity, CHASE hospice care for children and for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

The 30 staff who took part were divided into 7 teams and gave up their Saturday to help these two charities.  The teams had to walk 10km, cycle 40km then canoe 3km in the heat. It was a mixed Oxford and Swindon team of Dean Averies, Liz Anderson, Paul Bridgman, Marc Roberts and Ben Britter (pictured) who were the winners. Second place went to John Youle, Mark Beard, Darren Dawson, Marcus Nurton, Olly Byne and Martin Nash while Marc Bayley brought his Swindon team including Andy Sparkes, Kevin Pocock, Shaheen Jeewanjee and Harry Humphrey-Ackumey home in third.

Mark Beard, Managing Director said: “We are delighted we have raised this money – as well as making a positive impact on the communities we serve it’s been a great team building exercise for our staff – as well as being terrific fun.”
