Company triathlon on 26th June 2010

Staff at Beard’s three offices in Oxford, Swindon, and Guildford are gearing up for a company triathlon being held on 26 June at Cotswold Water Park in aid of Guildford based charity, CHASE hospice care for children and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Some 30 staff will be walking 10km, cycling 40km then canoeing 3km to raise money at a family fun day organised and supported by Beard. A tombola, raffle and face painting will help raise funds and Beard’s subcontractors and suppliers are being invited to sponsor the participants to help raise money.

Mark Beard, Managing Director said: “We strive to make a positive impact on the communities we serve and take our wider social responsibilities very seriously. Each year we select a charity to support and staff give their own time, not only providing expertise to charities and not-for profit projects, but in actively fund raising.”

Beard became aware of the wonderful work the CHASE children’s hospice, Christopher’s in Artington near Guildford performs when starting a refurbishment project to provide new high quality facilities to for life-limited children and their families.  As part of their commitment to the Guildford area they agreed with staff to make the hospice service their charity of choice this year.

This year Beard, who is again sponsoring Guildford Cricket Club in 2010, will be fundraising for CHASE at the Guildford Cricket club festival on 11 August, where Natalie Madigan, Corporate Fundraising Manager from CHASE will be giving a short talk about the charity.

Jenny Edwards, Head of Marketing & Fundraising at CHASE hospice care for children said: “We are delighted that Beard has chosen CHASE as their charity of the year.  CHASE needs to raise £4 million a year to support families with life-limited children throughout Surrey, Sussex and South West London. We still face challenging times and support from companies like Beard is essential to our fundraising.”
